The admin team of Sanhe Steel had quietly set up a long table-crispy fried chicken, fresh-cut seasonal fruit, ice-cold drinks, nothing fancy but plenty of it. No speeches, no agenda. People just left their desks and wandered over. Some leaned against the counter eating and chatting; a few sank into the couch scrolling their phones between bites; one or two got way too serious about arranging fruit on a plate for a photo.
It was never really about the food. Just an excuse to step away from the screens for a bit-loosen up, say something to each other that isn't about deadlines. That's how you build a team that actually likes being around each other.
