ASTM A36 is an American standard specification for ASTM A36 medium heavy plate covering plates, shapes, and bars. A36 plate is a low-carbon steel with a minimum yield strength of 250 MPa (36 ksi) and tensile strength of 400–550 MPa — properties that made it the default structural steel across North America and much of the world.
ASTM A36 medium heavy plate refers to thickness range: medium plate runs roughly 6–20mm, heavy plate 20mm and above, up to 100mm in our standard supply. These thicker plates carry the loads in bridges, equipment bases, and structural columns — applications where a failure is not an option and the steel must be verifiably to spec.

ASTM A36 medium heavy plate is produced at mill level by continuous casting and hot rolling, with per-heat testing of yield, tensile, and elongation. Plates are marked with heat numbers and grade identification for full traceability.
At Sanhe Steel, plates are processed to order: CNC flame or plasma cutting to exact shapes, shearing to dimension, drilling, and leveling. Our CNAS-accredited laboratory verifies chemistry and mechanical properties on incoming stock, and every order ships with the corresponding mill certificates.
