As a professional steel manufacturer, Sanhe Steel provides premium galvanized mild steel pipe for global customers. We guarantee reliable after-sales service and efficient, on-time delivery for every order. Sanhe Steel is a trustworthy and professional supplier of steel pipes, offering high-quality products compliant with mainstream international standards.
Ordinary steel pipes are galvanized to enhance their corrosion resistance. Galvanized mild steel pipe fall into two categories: hot-dip galvanized and cold galvanized. Hot-dip galvanized pipes feature a thick, evenly distributed zinc coating. The coating adheres tightly to the pipe surface and ensures a long service life.
Technical Principle
The galvanized mild steel pipes is immersed in molten zinc at around 460℃, forming a zinc-iron alloy layer
Thickness of galvanized
Generally, it is 40 to 100μm, and the thick ones can reach 200μm
Appearance
The surface is relatively rough and silver-gray, and there may be zinc tumors
Corrosion resistance
The galvanized mild steel pipes have highly corrosion-resistant, suitable for outdoor use for 20 to 30 years
Application
Fire protection pipelines, gas pipelines, outdoor supports, water and gas transmission
To make hot-dip galvanized pipes, we first pickle the pipes to remove iron oxide on the surface. After pickling, the pipes are cleaned in ammonium chloride, zinc chloride or mixed solution, then transferred to the hot-dip galvanizing tank.
Inside the tank, the steel pipe reacts physically and chemically with molten zinc. A dense, anti-corrosion zinc-iron alloy layer is formed.
This alloy layer combines firmly with pure zinc coating and the steel base. Therefore, hot-dip galvanized pipes boast even coating, strong adhesion and long service life.

Production Process
1. First, steel strips are rolled into tubes and welded at the seam to make ordinary welded pipes. Seamless steel pipes can also be used as the base material.
2. The galvanized mild steel pipes are soaked in alkaline solution to remove oil, then pickled to get rid of rust. After that, they are rinsed thoroughly to make sure the surface is clean. This helps the zinc layer stick firmly.
3. The cleaned pipes are fully dipped into high-temperature molten zinc. A thick, strong zinc-iron alloy layer plus pure zinc layer forms on the pipe surface.
Excess zinc is shaken off after the pipes are taken out of the zinc bath. They are then cooled and passivated to prevent white rust. Finally, they are cut to length and packed.
Sanhe Steel Success Stories
Case 1: steel structure & scaffolding project for coastal construction in Southeast Asia
Client Background
A top-5 construction contractor in the Philippines was awarded a contract to build a 12-story commercial complex in Manila Bay area. The project required 120 tons of galvanized steel scaffolding tubes (48.3mm OD × 3.2mm wall thickness) with minimum 80μm zinc coating to withstand the coastal salt-spray environment.
The Challenge
The client’s previous supplier delivered tubes with uneven zinc coating (ranging 40-120μm) and rust spots appearing within 3 months of installation. The local building authority threatened to halt construction unless the client replaced all substandard tubes—a potential PHP 2.5 million (approx. €42,000) loss.
Client Feedback
“The coating consistency was remarkable—we cut and welded over 5,000 tubes without a single coating failure at the cut ends. We’ve now specified Sanhe for our next two projects.”
Project Challenges
Construction is carried out in coastal areas with heavy salt spray and high humidity. Ordinary steel pipes tend to develop rust stains within just 3 months. In addition, strict safety standards are imposed on the bending deflection of steel tubes.
Solution
We supply low-carbon steel pipes manufactured via hot-dip galvanization with an average zinc coating thickness of over 85 μm. Every pipe undergoes 100% pressure testing and permanent marking before shipment, guaranteeing rust resistance during ocean transit and open-air storage.
Case 2: Modern Agricultural Greenhouse Frame Project in the Middle East
An agricultural technology engineering firm based in the UAE
Pre-galvanized square and rectangular tubes (40×40mm, 50×100mm, wall thickness 2.0mm)
Project Challenges
The desert region features extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night. Greenhouses span wide lengths, requiring extremely tight dimensional tolerances — especially for straightness and wall thickness. Any deviation would prevent seamless on-site assembly.
Solution
Tubes are produced with precision high-frequency welding followed by galvanization, limiting wall thickness tolerance to within ±0.05mm. Bundles are lined with moisture-proof plastic film during packaging to stop white rust caused by container condensation during sea freight.

FAQ
Q1: How to judge the quality of galvanized mild steel pipe?
A1: Good galvanized pipes have smooth and even zinc surfaces without missing plating, peeling or dark spots. The coating does not peel off when slightly scratched. The wall thickness and weight are standard.
Q2: What are the biggest advantages of galvanized steel over ordinary steel plates?
A2: Galvanized steel features strong corrosion resistance and long service life.
Q3: What is the difference between hot-dip galvanized and electro-galvanized pipes?
A3: Hot-dip galvanized pipes are immersed in molten zinc at ~460°C, forming a zinc-iron alloy layer with 40-100μm thickness — providing 20-30 years corrosion protection outdoors. Electro-galvanized pipes have a thinner coating (5-15μm) and are suitable for indoor use only. We recommend hot-dip galvanized for all outdoor and infrastructure projects.
Q4: Do you offer processing services for galvanized mild steel pipes?
A4: Yes, we do. Based on our processing plant's capabilities, we offer services such as fixed-length cutting (precision cutting to customer specifications), threading (BSPT or NPT), and punching and bending (fabricating embedded parts and bracket accessories according to drawings). All processing is performed after galvanizing to ensure the coating remains intact. Please provide drawings so we can confirm specific processing capabilities for your requirements.
Q5: Which industries do you serve regarding galvanized steel pipes?
A5: We supply galvanized steel pipes across a wide range of sectors, including construction (residential real estate, steel-structure factories, and fire-protection piping/brackets for prefabricated buildings), municipal infrastructure (water supply networks, sanitation facilities, and bridge/tunnel infrastructure), energy and transportation (oil and gas pipelines, power transmission towers, and port facilities), industrial manufacturing (machinery, equipment frames, and sheet metal components), and general utility applications (warehouse racking, decorative projects, and hardware fittings).
Q6: What does your after-sales service entail?
A6: We provide rapid resolution for quality issues—such as coating skips, blistering, or peeling—backed by quality assurance documentation. We assist with on-site acceptance inspections and promptly provide a full set of documents, including material certificates and product conformity certificates. Our after-sales team is available 24/7 to address logistics or application-related inquiries. Additionally, we maintain a long-term customer follow-up mechanism to continuously improve the service experience.
